hello, hello.
if you have found yourself receiving this email, it is because at some point in the past eight or so years since I began releasing music under the name “rose hotel” on burned CDs and faulty casette tapes, you signed up for my mailing list. most likely this was on a piece of scrap notebook paper, or perhaps it was during the phase where i was traveling with a typewriter and asking people to type their contacts onto loose leaf paper i would later haphazardly stuff into my pedal board. or, perhaps, you signed up recently with my pre-save link. either way, thank you for being here, i hope you’re still interested and decide to stick around.

i am releasing an album!
it is called “A Pawn Surrender” and it will be released on June 7th via Athens, GA-based label Strolling Bones Records. The first single, “Not Like That”, is out now.
it truly pleases me to say: you may listen/purchase/stream wherever you do those things! finally! my first original music since 2021 has finally hit the “air”waves and it feels like a massive sigh.
i’m very, very proud of it. i can’t wait to tell you more about it over the coming weeks and months. the album artwork is the photo you see above, the making of which i am going to tell y’all all about at some point because the creation of that image was truly one of the most fulfilling artistic endeavours i’ve embarked on and i couldn’t be more happy with the result. i can’t wait to see it printed on a vinyl sleeve.
future plans for this space…
it has been my intention for quite some time to start sharing more long-form, thoughtful writings, both art-related and otherwise. i think those will live here. i will also share updates for upcoming shows, news of the record, recommendations for what i’ve been listening to, thoughts on existence…maybe even a vlog or a podcast…? i’m not totally sure yet. i’m learning as i go along. i’m learning alongside you. if you’re down for the experiment…come on, pull up a chair. i’ll burn a candle. let’s spend some time together.
